The Final Get Down

As much as it's sad that the Get Down is over, it went out with a bang! The mood was high and the champagne was flowing. No tears were shed and it's only a matter of time until something new comes along! We will all miss the Get Down (formally known as Fascination) but we had a great final party!

WAKE THE FUCK UP

So went to see Rusko last night, once again I'm a little surprised. Mostly at how much this scene has exploded in the last year. I never though I'd see crowd surfing and people chanting for this guy. Even though it was clearly deserved. Rusko puts on a great show. He's so entertaining when he's up there. I don't think he stopping moving for 2 hours, 2 stepping and pretty much humping the table to the beat. Here's some pics and my favourite songs from the night.

All in all, wicked night, wicked tunes.

So last night I saw Jack Peñate & Miike Snow. I had never heard more than one Jack Peñate song until that night, but I was pleasantly surprised. He kept me entertained with dancing and very catchy sing-a-long lyrics. Being so influenced from last night, I'm listening to him right now. Miike Snow came on about an hour later and Toronto showed them quite a warm welcome. "Animal" was clearly the crowd favourite, but I have to say, mine was "Plastic Jungle". Their spacey electro sound comes alive in a concert setting. Much better than in my headphones. Even though Wrongbar is apparently inside the center of the earth, I had a very interesting night, and an enjoyable experience with Miike.

Skream & Benga was rdiculous, one of the craziest shows I've ever been to. Showed up around 10, and already the excitement was building. By almost 12, we were ready for the guys to go on, and guess who walks in the door. It was like they were fuckin' rockstars. Greeted by there many male groupies, a couple of which who had custom made Skream & Benga t-shirts (see pictures below). I felt like I was actually at a rock concert, people were standing on the side railings at one point, and I think i saw a guy trying to crowd surf. Despite a few problems with the sound, Skream & Benga killed it, and i think i love dubstep more now.

Made a quick stop at the drake, and the bass was definitely in my face. The sound vibrated through my chest, and i liked it. Standing next to the speakers was a good choice. I tried real hard, but the graphics being projected onto the screen behind the stage occasionally confused my camera. Here ya go.
